Zoom Games
Working from home can be a lonely and isolating experience. That is why it is important to have some fun team bonding games via Zoom with your remote teams and colleagues. Here are 5 of our favourite fuss-free virtual team building ideas that you can do with your remote team members on Zoom!
1) Charades
This ever-popular game requires friends to act like “something” they randomly selected via a game of chance (You can use cards, or an application). Participants cannot say anything and must act out their chosen object no matter how embarrassing it is. Thus, this game usually ends in extreme laughter as seeing your boss attempts to mimic a horse. It does a lot to break the ice in a cold corporate environment, creating deeper bonds with participants.
2) Two Truths and a Lie
This game is a classic icebreaker that helps people learn more about one another. In Two Truths and a Lie, each player takes turns sharing two truths and one lie about themselves with the group. The other players then have to try and guess which statement is the lie.
This activity can be done inside virtual team building activities or as an icebreaker at the beginning of a meeting. It is best played with groups of four to six people.
If you are doing this activity online, we recommend using a tool like Google Forms to keep track of who said what (you can find out how here). This will help make sure everyone has a chance to share something about themselves.
3) 20 Questions
“20 Questions” is one of the most classic word games that can be played with any number of people. The goal of the game is for one player to think of a thing, place, or person and for the rest of the players to ask yes or no questions in order to guess what it is.
4) I Spy
I Spy is another one of the most popular games to play with numerous participants. The goal of the game is for someone to think of an object, place or person and tell their teammates what it is without saying where it is or giving them too much information about its appearance.
All players have to guess as many things as they can before time runs out. It does not matter if they are right or wrong so long as everyone gets a chance to play!
You could also try playing this inside online office games. One player starts off by thinking up something in front of everybody else but keeps it hidden from view (you could even use Zoom’s screen sharing function). Then all the other players take turns trying to describe it and guessing what it is.
5) Zoom Trivia Game with a Team Member
For those who love playing games involving trivia, we highly recommend trying out Zoom’s built-in quiz game. It is a great way to explore the different talents and strengths of your virtual team members. The questions can be customized as well so that everyone gets something they are interested in!
To play this inside virtual team building activities, you need two teams which will play on Zoom and compete against one another with each person answering questions individually (meaning there isn’t much talking involved). You could also do it outside of zoom but then would require more than six people or for them all to join via link at once instead of through an internal meeting invite (which can limit numbers).
The Bottom Line
No matter what online games you choose to play, the important thing is that everyone has a good time. These zoom games can help break the ice and get people talking to each other. Not only will this help them learn more about one another, but it can also help strengthen team bonds and improve company culture. So don’t be afraid to try some new zoom games!
